Key Team Players
Elizabeth McLaughlin, COO
As chief operating officer of SIR, Elizabeth oversees all facets of the firm's activities, including its research on behalf of the Boomer Project. Her responsibilities include development and implementation of new research techniques and services, quality control, and resource planning. She also oversees work with new and ongoing clients in the design and implementation of their research programs.
Prior to joining SIR, Elizabeth was vice president of sales for PBM Products, a multinational company specializing in store brand and national brand product lines of infant formula. She led PBM's sales force in direct selling to the nation's top 25 retailers.
Karen Smith, Ph.D. -- SVP Research Strategy
Karen is responsible for all phases of the Boomer Project's and SIR's research -- from project conceptualization and research design to analysis and strategic interpretation of results. She works across a variety of industries, including healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, education, associations, consumer products, business-to-business and finance.
Her professional background extends to 20 years experience conducting research for some of the world's leading corporations and organizations, including Ford Motor Company, Georgia-Pacific, John Hancock Insurance, IBM, Allstate Corporation and many more. She has worked in corporate-research leadership roles at Hallmark Cards and Ryder Systems.
Anna MacIntosh, Project Director
Anna supervises all aspects of Boomer Project and SIR research projects, including project design, questionnaire development, fieldwork supervision, data analysis, reporting, and presentation.
Before joining SIR in 2005, Anna was a research analyst for the University of Virginia Center for Survey Research and for Capital One. Her Master's Thesis at the University of Virginia was entitled, "Sense-Making under Uncertainty: The Relationship Between Implicit and Explicit Measures."
Laura Turner Reid, Project Director
Laura brings nearly 10 years of marketing, market feasibility and marketing research experience to the Boomer Project and SIR. She manages all aspects of the research process, including project planning, research methodologies, fieldwork supervision, data analysis, and the reporting and presentation of research findings.
Prior to joining SIR, Laura was a research associate at Media General, Inc., owner of newspapers, TV stations and web sites across the country. There, she designed, implemented, analyzed and presented telephone, online and mail survey research for the company's metropolitan and daily newspapers, broadcast stations, magazines and online enterprises.
