News & Insights from the Boomer
Project

Dear Matt,
Happy
New Year!
Long-time readers of this newsletter know that we
consider September 1st as the real start of a new year
-- because that is when we're all back from summer
vacations, turning our attention on new things to get
done before the holidays, with the crisp hint of autumn in the
air.
Okay, maybe we're just wishing it's Egg Nog season
already.
Seriously, marketers launch new campaigns now, in concert
with the football season and the new TV shows. So
we're on the lookout for new efforts targeting Boomers,
and will talk about them over the next month at our new
blog, Boomer Consumer :: The
Blog.
To keep up, just subscribe to the blog so you get an
email every time we post something new.

Next Up: Ann Taylor
-- The woman's clothier is entering Boomer land.
Boomers and the
Sixties -- What role did sex, drugs and rock 'n roll
really play during the formative years of Boomers?

-- the Population Reference Bureau released their annual
report on global population trends. We comment.
Lusting for Baby
Boomers -- AdAge reports on new media vehicles

Boomer Conference
Don't forget, the Boomer Project will be presenting at a
major Boomer Business
Conference in Chicago, September 17-19, 2007. The
conference is part of Consumer Healthcare World conferences,
but it isn't 100% focused on healthcare issues.
Speakers include Matt Thornhill of the Boomer Project;
Richard Adler of the Institute for the Future; Sandra
Timmermann, MetLife's Mature Market Institute; Eileen Marcus,
FH Boom; Brent Green, author of Marketing to Leading Edge
Boomers; and Mary Fulong, of Furlong &
Associates.
It should be a strong event with lots of good
content.
